Some handy notes, so I won’t get lost on the palette…

The Schemes:

  • Monochromatic: Single base color and the any number of shades of that color.
  • Achromatic: Without color.
  • Analogous: Colors adjacent to one another on the color wheel.
  • Complementary: Colors opposite to one another on the color wheel. They “complement” each other.
  • Split complementary: The two colors adjacent to the base color’s complement (opposite).
  • Triadic: Three colors that are equally spaced between each other on the color wheel
  • Tetradic (double complementary): A Complementary scheme combined with another Complementary scheme.
